Those Dirty Phantoms..

Thursday, 29 March, 2007

So my band, The Dirty Phantoms (cool name huh?) are planning to pick a few ideas from what we’ve come up with so far, make some decent recordings of them, then release them in the form of an EP, which may or may not be called “Transmissions from the Crypt”. Our drummer and guitarist in fact are both artists (which leaves me, who isn’t), so they can probably come up with some cool cover art for that.

I have made a few “demo” recordings in my bedroom (minus drums of course), which sound a little sketchy, but can give people an idea of what we sound like, which is something between Horror Punk and Instrumnetal Surf, well thats my idea anyway.

To the left is something that was drawn by Aza, the drummer as a sort of potential logo, I think its rockin’.

Super Metroid and Retro Gamer

Wednesday, 7 March, 2007

The game I’m playing through at the moment for my ZSNES emulator, I hope to buy a SNES and the actual cartridge soon, as using the keyboard can be extremely annoying at times. That being said however, it is quickly becoming one of my favourite games, despite the fact I haven’t been playing it for very long.

Since I’m becoming more interested in retro video games, which is the reason for my “Crazy Console Collection” by the way, in which I plan to acquire a Super Nintendo (among other consoles) as I have already said, I bought an issue of Retro Gamer magazine last year. What attracted me to it was the article on Sonic Team, Sega and Sonic in general, it also had a look-back at all the Sonic games, and since I’m a Sonic fan, I went for it.

While recently searching the Internet, I found some information on Retro Gamer magazine that said it has now become quite the collectable and often sells on auction sites like eBay for considerably more than the original cover price. Since I was curious, I went to eBay.co.uk and did a search and sure enough, I found some RG mags selling for more than the cover price (£5). I scrolled down until I found one which was the same issue as mine and found that the current bid was £21.99!

Huzzah, I thought.
